100 miles later...

Brent had his 100 mile bike race yesterday and was riding for 8 1/2 hours. Crazy kid. I still can't believe he did it, but now he has the sore muscles, a pretty killer farmer tan, and of course the t-shirt to prove it. Kennedy and I drove an hour away to see him cross the finish line. We are proud of him and are REALLY grateful to all the friends and family who donated to support him. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!

Our friends Orie and Rebecca who did the race too.

Tour de Cure

This Saturday Brent is riding in a 100 mile bike ride to help cure diabetes. I know what you are thinking, a typo right....nope - I meant to write 100 miles. I think he's totally crazy, but am pretty impressed that he's going to do it. He tried to get me to ride with him, but we all know where that conversation went. Lets just say a lot of laughing was involved :) He decided to do this ride after having an old neighbor move out and he gave brent this old bike. One of our favorite things is fixing up old things, so that has been a big project lately trying to get this bike in decent condition. One of the requirements of being able to ride in this race is you have to get your friends and family to donate some money to help cure diabetes. Brent is at 64% in reaching his goal, so if you would like to donate a little money to help him out we would sure appreciate it. Don't break the bank or anything, but even a little would help out a lot. If you would like to donate to help cure diabetes go to...

Garage Sale

So in preparing to move back out of Iowa and back to Utah, we decided to have a garage sale a couple of weekends ago. People out here in Iowa are crazy about garage sales. In the summer there are signs for them EVERYWHERE and they usually run Thursday - Saturday all day. It was a lot more work than you would think getting ready for it, but it was VERY worth it. We made quite a bit of money, which was such a blessing for us to help with the moving expenses. We still have no clue how we were able to get so much money and what we sold to do it, but I guess that's how some blessings come. The first day things were going so well, we went back through our house trying to find anything else we didn't want. It was kind of addicting, I'll be honest. A couple of friends brought over some of their stuff too, so it was quite the operation!

A Little Summer Fun

We have been LOVING the summer SO much this year. We are so excited that it is finally warm and sunny that we haven't been doing much else, but playing (and especially not updating the blog - as you can tell). Here are some random pics of the fun we've had :)
One of our favorite summer activities - bon fires!
Daddy doing a little babysitting...

Kennedy's First Sucker...she's addicted!
Can't forget pool parties!
A couple of garage sale finds. Kennedy LOVES them!

And then there's the park. Kennedy cannot get enough, especially when her little buddies are along.

The Results...

So I thought I would let everyone in on the little MOTHER'S DAY QUIZ I posted.  By the way, thank you to everyone who responded.  It was fun to see what everyone put, even though I was a little mad because I DIDN'T win our little bet.  It all got started as Brent and I were talking about how I was in charge of the mothers day gifts for our ward this year.  I told him that I wish I had more time to prepare, because if I did, my plan was to get each husband to write a nice loving note to their wives.  I proceeded to tell him that it is the BEST gift a woman could receive for mothers day.  He proceeded to tell me, that he thinks that I just have 'a thing' for notes and its not really that important to most girls....well, it turns out HE WAS RIGHT.  (Man, I hate saying that)  It seemed like most picked the breakfast in bed, 2nd was time spent, and 3rd was the note.  Ok, so I was WAY wrong...oh, well...at least he knows what I like....right.  Lucky for me that we had this conversation though because, not only did he get me the pilates stuff I wanted, he also made me breakfast in bed, wrote me a note, and had a barbecue/corn hole game that evening.  Awww, it was the perfect day for me.....I LOVED IT!!!  It was my best mothers day yet.  Thanks Brent...your the best!!!

A Little Mothers Day Bet...

So tonight Brent and I made this bet about what women like THE MOST for Mother's Day.  I'm not quite sure why he is betting against a WOMAN, but let's just humor him for the moment.  So here it goes...

For mother's day, what would you rather receive MOST along with a gift?

1)   Breakfast in Bed
2)  A Loving Note from the Husband
3)  Quality Time with the Husband/Kids

So please help us settle this dispute by casting your vote in a comment, and also mention if you would like your vote forwarded on to your husband :)

Lions, Tigers, and Bears...

It is always a little bitter sweet for me to go to the zoo.  On the one hand I totally love going and so does Kennedy.  It is a fun activity to do outside and lets be honest, who doesn't love the zoo, but on the other hand it is a little hard for me to see all the animals caged up and I always feel a little bad going by and staring at them all locked up.  It is especially hard for me when you can tell their cages didn't receive any of the zoo's budget for the year.  But as always, we go...and don't get me wrong we have fun.  A few weeks ago, it was Niabi Zoo's free week, so like any poor college family...we went twice that week.  The first time was with a bunch of girls from the ward and the second time was with Brent.  Both times were a lot of fun and between the two visits we were able to see all the animals out and about.  It was so much more fun to watch Kennedy this year than it was last.  Its crazy what a difference a year makes.  She LOVED it!!!

Kennedy remembered the carousel from the Mall of America a little TOO well.   Check out our newest rock climber in the family.  Keep it up!

Work it girl....work it!!!
I think Reilly was a little jealous of the new guy :)

Easter Monday

I was planning on doing Easter the night we got back from our trip, but since it was pretty late by the time we finally made it we decided to have our own little Easter the next day.  We did a really fun FHE with Kennedy; we read a story, played a easter memory game (suprisingly K did really well), and then watch a movie about Jesus.  After the serious part, we got to the NOT so serious stuff and let her put on some bunny ears and she was off to look for her Easter basket.  She LOVED it and it was SO SO SO much fun for us to watch.  Of course, she devoured her candy as she opened up each egg, and loved playing with her princess hat, gloves, and new pink purse.  The next day she was ALL about playing with everything EASTER!!!

And yes, she insisted on going to the store like this...
