On top of Brent being so busy in clinic, he has national boards coming up that he has to start studying for. Instead of never seeing him for 2 weeks, Kennedy and I decided that we would take a little trip back west to see the mountains, family, and of course catch in a little Cafe Rio. We will be thinking about him while we are eating our barbacoa pork burrito and listening to our theme song for our trips away from each other, "Hey There Delilah". Seriously though, I'm going to get a little mushy, which I have never done on our blog, so if you need to skip down you can do so now. Here I go...I really am going to miss Brent so much and I am very grateful for all the hard work he puts in for our family. He is always doing his best to do great in school and learns the most that he can. He is going to be a wonderful chiropractor and I am SO excited for him to do what he loves. Its hard to remember life before I met Brent and I can't imagine my life without him. He is an awesome dad!!! Kennedy will for sure miss chasing the bunnies with him in the backyard, and I'm sure that he will miss her slobbery kisses. We love you Brent and will miss you SO much!!!! Good luck with boards.

Dr. Brent
So lately Brent has been crazy busy at school because he just received his white coat and is ready to start adjusting in clinic. A couple of weeks ago, we cleaned up his old study space downstairs and tried to make the basement into his own little office. We still kept his desk, made out of two moving boxes and our table leaf, but tried to make it a little more cozy down there. So there he is, white coat and all, ready to get going and....if Kennedy is good, she can play doctor too!!!

My New Best Friend...
To most people looking at this picture it doesn't seem like much, but to a mom who cleans bottles and likes to cook, this little puppy is a little piece of heaven on earth. Since Brent and I have been married (3 years) we have been lucky enough to live in apartments that DON'T have dishwashers. I didn't think much of it when we first got married because we were so poor we just lived on ramen and mac n' cheese, but since we have been out in Iowa, I have started to cook more and dishes have become my arch-nemisis. So when we heard that some of our friends were going to be moving and needed to find a home for the little guy, we decided INSTANTLY that we would take him in. So our many thanks to Katie and Trevor, the previous owners Chad and Ashley, and I'm not sure where it came before that. So here he is everybody...my new best friend.

Palmer Homecoming
Every year Brent's school has a Homecoming weekend where they have classes and events that you can go to. We went to it last year and thought that it was pretty good so we thought we would try it again. Brent went to most of the classes, I snuck into a few, and we went to a couple of dinners they had. At one of the free dinners we had a guy draw us a family portrait, and at the other dinner it ended up being on a cruise boat that goes down the Mississippi River. We were able to go on the dinner cruise thanks to our friends, the Kerrigans, for watching Kennedy!!! We appreciated it a lot. It was a really busy weekend, but we had a lot of fun!!! We also celebrated our 3rd anniversary earlier in the week by going to a fancy restaurant we had never been to. Johnny's Italian Steakhouse - yum!!!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...
Brent's school was giving out free tickets for our local baseball team, The Quad Cities River Bandits, so we decided to jump on board and go see the game. When we moved here we actually didn't find out we had a baseball team until a year later when we were driving over the bridge right behind the field. So a year AFTER finding out we had a team, we finally made it to a game. The game turned out to be BOGO free beer night, so I don't know what was more entertaining, watching the fans or the game. We also only made it to the 7th inning, not because of Kennedy, but because the heavens didn't like who was winning - I guess. There seriously was a biblical storm of bugs that rained us out of the stadium. It was definitely a midwest experience!!!

Office Fun
So Brent and I like to get into shows, and our latest show craze has been THE OFFICE. Ever since the show came out we thought that it looked pretty stupid and we would never watch it when it came on. As the fans increased and we heard how funny it was, we reluctantly decided to give it a try. We have found with a lot of shows, you have to start with the first season or else its just not that good, so thats what we did. We are definitely now addicted and LOVE the show!!! We really only think Michael is funny about a 1/4 of the time, but Jim and Dwight - now there is some good comedy. We love all the funny pranks that Jim plays on Dwight. Seriously Jim makes the whole show. And of course...I'm all into the love story between Pam and Jim. So anyways...now for the whole purpose of this post. The other night as I was trying to fall asleep I got this great idea to play an "office" prank on Brent. The next morning Brent woke up to this...

Kennedy's 1st Birthday
Shortly after getting back from summer break, we celebrated Kennedy's birthday with a barbecue and kiddie pool party in our backyard. Kennedy's friend Emma was born just 3 days after her so we had a combined birthday party and invited a few people over to help us celebrate. I decorated 2 mini birthday cakes for the little girls and a big cake for everyone else. I got the idea for the cakes off the plates & decor that I used for the parties theme. It was the most fun I have had decorating a cake and I was pretty proud of how they turned out. Kennedy was a little hesitant to dig into her cake, but that was soon lost as you can see from the pictures. I ended up washing her off in the pool. We had a blast and I can't believe my little girl is already 1.
