We have waited what seems like forever for the spring to come here in Iowa. It has been such a hard winter for us, but we are SO EXCITED for the warm weather and sun. We have been itching to fire up the grill, so last week we headed out to enjoy our backyard and try out a new hamburger recipe. Brent has been mastering the grill and has surprisingly succeeded:) Relaxing out there is our new favorite thing to do!!! Kennedy loves the outside too, especially when our neighbors have their dogs out.

First Summer Outfit

So, I have been dying to put Kennedy in her new summer clothes and with the first sign of good weather we started sporting her new duds. The sun came out just in time because Kennedy has grown a little faster than expected and all her winter clothes were getting pretty snug - even some of her summer clothes are a little snug too, but I still have her wear them because I can't stand the thought of not having her wear them at least once. She has started crawling now, so I'm hoping she starts burning off some of her food storage!!!

8K Race

Brent has really been getting into running lately and decided he was up for another race. The race started on Brady Hill right outside his school and then finished in the courtyard of Palmer. I wasn't about to get up early enough to see him off, but Kennedy and I did make it out the door just in time to see him cross the finish line. He did a great job and beat his goal so we were all proud of him. He keeps trying to get me into the race thing too, but...well, he's just barking up the wrong tree because running is probably the worst thing I could think of doing early in the morning. Maybe one day...Maybe one day.

Niabi Zoo

A couple of weeks ago Kennedy had her 2nd zoo experience, plus her first group date with Conner, Lily, and Emma (what a lucky guy - 3 girls all to himself). The zoo across the river in Illinois had a few FREE days, so we decided to take advantage and get out of the house after a rough winter. Kennedy loved being outside and had fun with her friends, but I'm not sure how much she really cared about the animals. Now if there are dogs around - that a different story - they are her new favorite friends. She starts kicking her legs and screaming every time she sees one. Its pretty cute to see her get so excited about them. I think Daddy has been doing a little brainwashing!!!

A Little More Mobile

Kennedy hasn't started crawling yet, but she's pretty close and REALLY wants to. We have to start being careful now when we leave her by herself because she is just so curious about anything she hasn't played with, and if she wants it - she'll find a way to get it.

The Three Amigos

Kennedy loves getting together with her two buddies, Emma and Lily. They are all around the same age and it is fun to see them interact with each other, although sometimes it is more friendly interaction than others (as you can see in the picture with Emma crying).

Happy Easter

We had a lot of fun this year for Easter!!! It is so much more fun when you have kids - I think last year we didn't even really celebrate with just the two of us. We all got baskets this year and it was a blast to fill Kennedy's. She got some bunny ears, a first easter stuffed bunny, a book from grandma, a dress from Scott & Amy, and well...lots of candy for her parents to eat.
